An attractive antique bergere sedan chair. We date this chair to the second half of the 19th century.
The chair sits on four sturdy turned legs over their castors.
The seat base and back rest have bergere canework.
The rear of the chair has two hinged carry handles.
The chair has a height of 36″ (92cm), an overall width of 20″ (51cm), an overall depth of 30″ (76cm), a backrest height of 22.5″ (57cm), a seat height of 14″ (35cm), a seat width of 17.5″ (44cm) and a seat depth of 18.5″ (47cm).
This attractive chair remains in a good solid condition. The caning remains in good condition with a few minor spots of wear. There would have originally been two pull out supports from underneath the chair but these have been removed at some point in the past. There is a bit of wear to the castors and two of the top rings are missing from them.
This remains a very stylish and elegant chair which is very comfortable and supportive to sit on. It will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
