A lovely antique scumbled Victorian pine kist. We date this kist to the second half of the 19th century.
The chest sits on a slightly protruding plinth base.
The kist comprises a large rear hinged lidded box with metal handles on either side of the chest. There is a small storage area at the top left hand side with a candle drawer underneath.
The kist has a height of 19.5" (50cm), a width of 30.5" (78cm) and a depth of 19" (49cm).
This lovely pine kist remains in a good usable condition with surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is some wear, indentations and marks from past use to the scumble glaze.
This remains a very stylish and functional pine kist which would function well as a toy storage box or a linen chest etc. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
]]>A lovely painted filing cabinet. We date this cabinet to the first half of the 20th century.
The cabinet has four drawers and has been painted at some point in its life. The paint is showing a bit of wear now, primarily around the base. It may benefit from being painted at some point in the future.
The drawers are fitted with later added plastic bow front handles.
The cabinet has an overall height of 53" (135cm), a width of 16.5" (42cm) and a depth of 28" (72cm).
Internally the drawers have a width of 12” (30cm) wide.
This attractive cabinet remains in a good solid condition with surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There are some marks to the insides of the cabinet and there is a bit of wear to the wood at the base of the rear panel.
This remains a very useful cabinet. It will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
]]>The trunk comprises of a large rear hinged lidded box.
There is a leather handle to each side and the trunk has wood bindings for protection. The front of the chest has large metal catches.
There are the remains of old shipping labels around the trunk and there is a label for ‘Dr. Donald, Dundee’ inside the trunk.
The trunk has a height of 12″ (31cm), a width of 36″ (92cm) and a depth of 20″ (51cm).
This lovely trunk remains in a good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. The trunk has been well travelled and has a number of usage marks as to be expected. There is a slight dip to the top of the trunk and the interior is missing its original top tray.
This remains a very stylish and functional trunk which would function well as coffee table etc. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
