A lovely elm sideboard dresser from the Ercol furniture range. We date this sideboard to the second half of the 20th century. There is a label for Ercol furniture to the rear of the cabinet.
The dresser comes in two sections: the base sideboard and the plate rack top.
The sideboard sits on four feet. The plate rack section screws on to the side board base.
The main cabinet consists of two top drawers arranged over a double side hinged door cupboard.
The drawer fronts have sloped back edges outlined with deep horizontal groove detail. The drawers are fitted with pairs of small turned wood bun handles.
The base cupboard doors have central recessed panels, divided by rails with groove detail. The two doors are secured by a handle operated wooden catch in the centre.
The interior of the two cupboards are fitted with a mid mounted recessed wooden shelf.
The top section consists of a two shelf plate rack which has a small integral canopy supported either end on the curvilinear front brackets which also support the shelves. The shelf tops have horizontal full width grooves to house the display plates.
The dresser has an overall height of 63.5″ (162cm), a main cabinet height of 33.5″ (85cm), a width of 49″ (125cm) and a depth of 20″ (51cm).
This lovely vintage Ercol elm dresser has been constructed to a very high standard and remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There are a few very minor marks to the top surface and to some of the edges from past use.
This remains a very stylish and elegant vintage Ercol dresser which will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
