A lovely pair of antique Victorian carved oak chairs. We date these chairs to the early 20th century.
There are plaques to the undersides for ‘Wylie & Lochhead’.
The chairs sit on two barley twist legs at the front and two oblong section backward splayed legs at the rear. The legs have been braced with very attractive barley twist stretchers.
The rear legs continue up to form the backrest side supports.
The chair seat pads are upholstered in a brown leather with stud detail. The backrests have been upholstered in leather also.
The back of the chairs have decoratively carved rails.
The chairs are 38″ (97cm) high with a backrest height of 19″ (48cm), a seat height of 19″ (48cm), a seat width of 19″ (49cm) and a seat depth of 19.5″ (49cm).
This lovely pair of antique oak dining chairs remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage, including some minor wear to the finish on the armrests. The leather is showing an amount of wear with some rips and tears, especially on one of the chairs where it has the horse hair showing.
This remains a very stylish and elegant set of carved oak chairs. They will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
