An attractive Victorian rocking chair. We date this chair to the second half of the 19th century.
The chair sits on slender supports with a sprung rocking mechanism.
The arm rests continue back to meet the back rest side panel, the frame of the chair is of well turned mahogany. The chair has a padded back and seat pad, covered in a red velour fabric.
The chair has been constructed with numerous well turned supports throughout.
The chair has a height of 40.5″ (103cm), a width of 22″ (56cm), a depth of 27″ (69cm), a backrest height of 29″ (74cm), a seat height of 14″ (36cm), a seat width of 18″ (46cm) (between the armrests) and a seat depth of 17.5″ (45cm).
This attractive antique Victorian rocking chair remains in very good solid condition with only minor surface wear marks commensurate with age and usage. There are a few minor marks and indentations to the wood frame from past use. The arm and back rests have wear to the finish with use over the years.
This remains a very stylish and elegant antique Victorian rocking chair. It is both comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
