Attractive Vintage Oak Settle / Monks Bench With Fold-over Backrest

A beautiful dark oak monks bench with carvings to the panelled backrest and the front of the bench. We date this bench to the late 20th century.

The bench sits on small bracket legs. The seat has a hinged area that lifts up to reveal a nice storage space.

The backrest folds over onto the sturdy x frame armrests and turns the settle into a table.

The bench has an overall height of 39.5″ (100cm), an overall width of 37.5″ (96cm), an overall depth of 16.5″ (42cm), a backrest height of 19″ (48cm), a seat height of 20.5″ (52cm), a seat width of 31” (79cm) and a seat depth of 14″ (36cm). When the backrest is folded down the overall height is 29” (74cm).

This lovely bench remains in very good solid condition with minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage, including a few very light indentations to some of the edges. There are some minor marks around the feet from past use.

This remains a very decorative and useful bench. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
